I USE GOLDMINE STANDARDS WITH THE ADDITION OF AN EXCELLENT GRADE
THERE IS JUST TOO BIG A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A VG+ & A NM ALBUM
MY GRADING IS DONE VISUALLY ON MOST LP'S
I WILL SPOT CHECK SOUND ON OBVIOUS AREAS OF CONCERN
My Gradings are Cover first, Vinyl Second
Mint (M) A Perfect LP in all respects, never been touched by man-Ain't gonna happen
Sealed I will state this if LP has never been opened-since it's never been opened the vinyl should be in NM condition although it may have cover creases, cut out holes etc.
Near Mint (NM) A near Perfect record, No obvious signs of wear, should look like an LP just opened from a record store.
Excellent (EX) LP was very well taken care of or had very little play. Very minor background noise, no major pops or tics. The cover will look almost new with high gloss but has a few minor blemishes, such as very minor ring wear or corner bunting. Cut corners/cut out holes acceptable.
Very Good+ (VG+) A nice used LP that has been taken care of by owner but has seen play. There may be some background noise in soft passages, between songs and an occasional tic or pop. The cover will have some wear such as ring wear, discoloration, minor seam splits-this will still be a SOLID LISTENING COPY except maybe for AUDIOPHILES with High End Equipment.
Very Good (VG) LP has been played alot but still has some life to it. The cover will be worn or have a major defect like a tear or some seams will be split. If you don't mind some background noise this will still be an acceptable record.
All LPs should be in STEREO Mode unless stated-mono, quad etc.
CD's

New-Never been played
Used-Has been used by a previous owner but is still a good listening copy. May have wear on jewel case and inserts.
